For this shot we built a support rig off the bow of a Campion Allante 925 and triggered the camera to fire remotely.

Shooting the feature image of the Campion Explorer 822 went something like this: my assistant dangled me from the bow of our camera boat, hanging on to one of the straps of my lifejacket. Meanwhile, the driver of the 822 struggled to keep it in position. At the same time, Campion’s marketing director used a fishing rod to repeatedly yank a 5lb salmon up out of the water while the model on the 822 pulled back on a weighted line that was sunk beneath the camera boat. In the end we were proud to say “no Photoshop.”

We teamed up with Vector Powerboats to create new images of their 40 foot, million dollar machine. This powerboat, designed by Neil Gilbert of Malibu Boats, was incredible. I needed our helicopter pilot to get close – really close – while maneuvering around this boat at 130MPH. With me standing on the skid of the helicopter, our very talented pilot got me close enough to get soaked by the spray of the boat – exactly where I wanted to be for that perfect shot! This photoshoot landed us the cover of Powerboat Magazine.
